About The Farmer & The Chef:
The Farmer & The Chef pairs Delaware/PA farmers with area chefs to compete in making the tastiest local bite. Attendees vote for their favorite dish. We've been to several of these types of events in Philly, where you see a lot of the same names each year, so we're excited to be introduced to new chefs, restaurants and farmers from Wilmington and surrounding DE/PA counties, where agriculture is a major industry.

It is presented by The March of Dimes and The Delaware Department of Agriculture, with proceeds going directly to the March of Dimes. It helps create sustainable relationships between local farmers and chefs, while reinforcing the movement of eating healthy, something the March of Dimes promotes to women who are considering pregnancy. The March of Dimes works to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality and advance research on maternal and health issues.

One week to enter - hope to see you at The Farmer & The Chef!

Last year's gourd selection at the Farmer's Market. How can you not love gourds!?!

For a new place to review, I encourage you to go on another Banh Mi hunt. The very best can be found at 10th and Washington, Cafe Huong Lan (1037 S. 8th). Just walk in, order "a hoagie" and take it to go, or plop in a seat and chow down. They use fresh Sarcones rolls and when the rolls are gone, the hoagies stopped being served. So go around lunch, because you'll probably get a "we're sold out" anytime after 2 or so. Best $4 you'll spend!

I don't think I've ever seen you blog on Race Street Cafe. It's a classic, standard for every Philadelphian. My wife and I still dream of the mussels we ate there the night before I proposed to her. It was one of those sauces where you just keep asking for bread to sop it up and you don't let them take it away until you've licked it dry! And of course, the beer...they are masters of the perfect draft selection that ranges to meet every taste bud coming through their door. Definitely put this on your to-do this this Fall.

There's a hole in the wall Indonesian place near my house called Sky Cafe which is awesome and super cheap!

Tacos El Rodeo (food truck). 10th and Washington.

Best taco's in Philly--hands down. All tacos come with pickles veggies and avocado. I haven't encountered this anywhere else. Moreover, everything is inexpensive and simply delicious. And they're open late (around 11:30 PM or until they run out). Can't be beat.

You've probably eaten here before but I haven't seen it on the blog - Le Viet. I just really love the classy atmosphere combined with delicious, affordable food.

You've blogged about wanting to go there, but haven't gone yet to one of my favorite new restaurants: Cheu Noodle Bar. It's crazy tasty and inventive.

All great suggestions! We just talked about Le Viet this weekend. We just went to Cheu last month so will have to report back on that soon. Ate at Little Pete's probably 8 years ago, long before the blog.

Keep em coming and you could win Farmer & Chef tix!

I'd love to see a review on La Fia, the new Bryan Sikora restaurant in Wilmington!

As a Philly lover/current Wilmington resident, I am SO excited for it!

I'm already subscribed to the email list.

I think you should jump on Patco, head in my direction to Collingswood, and review Zepolli - the place is two years old and has already had 2 James Beard pre-noms. If you do, I'll join you.

Thanks for all these suggestions guys! We definitely have some new places to try. Bradd took the Tacos el Rodeo suggestion and just went to try it this weekend... post coming soon.

If La Fia is in Wilmington, maybe it will be represented at The Farmer & The Chef?

We've been dying to get out to Zeppoli for a while now. Need to make that happen. Same with Race Street Cafe and more...

My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it? Any kind of help would be really appreciated! all of craigslist
